Retired BSC Engineering Technology Dean Frank Hart Receives ABET’s Highest Honor | Lifestyles

BLUEFIELD — Frank Hart, whose service to Bluefield State School spanned six many years, has been chosen to obtain ABET’s (previously the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Expertise) most prestigious honor—the Linton E. Grinter Distinguished Service Award.

In accordance with ABET’s web site, the Linton E. Grinter Distinguished Service Award “honors a person whose uncommon dedication and enduring influence has made ABET a greater group.” The award is ABET’s highest honor.

“I embraced the experiences I gained working with ABET and used these experiences to enhance applications at BSC,” Hart stated. “ABET is the gold commonplace in program accreditation. Conserving engineering expertise applications accredited by ABET was a purpose of the School’s college and our industrial advisory boards. I want to thank Bluefield State School, and significantly the BSC engineering expertise graduates and school for his or her participation in ABET actions.”

Becoming a member of Bluefield State School in 1968, Hart was a member of the Engineering Expertise college, then Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Expertise and Laptop Science till his retirement in 2014. He obtained the BSC Basis “Excellent College Award (1996),” and he was awarded College Emeritus designation (2012), receiving an Honorary Doctorate in 2016.

Throughout his service to ABET, Hart led the Engineering Expertise Accreditation’s Fee’s (ETAC) adoption of outcomes-based accreditation, and his management contributed to a considerable improve within the variety of ABET-accredited engineering expertise applications. He additionally participated in 48 ABET visits as a Program Evaluator or a Group Chair. At current, Hart serves as Adjunct Accreditation Director for Engineering Expertise Applications for ABET.

A Virginia Tech graduate (1967—Bachelor of Science) (1968—Grasp of Science), the 2021 Grinter Award honoree is a Fellow of each ABET and the American Society of Civil Engineers. He coached Little League baseball for greater than 20 years and was a member of many Bluefield-area group improvement committees.

Hart obtained the Linton E. Grinter Distinguished Service Award throughout the 2021 ABET Awards Celebration, which was held on October 30.
